Lake Worth, Florida - Citizens Against Unfair Taxation

Lake Worth, Florida  - Citizens Against Unfair Taxation

Dear Neighbor, It is obvious that the price for utilities is the highest in the entire country. Water costs are high and sewage calculation is a scandal. I have written innumerous letters to city commissioners asking to explain why there is a cap on sewage that makes it cheaper for business owners and extremely expensive for residents.

When my water bill is $60.00 my sewage bill is $55.00 and it doesn’t make sense.

I don’t believe that the commissioners were able to create a plan for Tax increase on their own, but they are being manipulated by other interest groups to show that it will be good for this bankrupted city.

Please Vote AGAINST the $63.5 Million Lake Worth Tax Bonds on Tuesday, August 26th. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm.

THIS ELECTION COULD BE DECIDED BY VERY FEW VOTES

YOUR VOTE COUNTS.

Reasons to Vote AGAINST Bonds:

1. Lake Worth could pay the HIGHEST taxes in Palm Beach County.

2. The City says only 30% of our roads will be repaired with the bond money.

3. $63.5 million PLUS interest and expenses will cost at least $131 million over 30 years.

4. A 30 year tax burden for you, your kids and your grandkids is a long time.

5. We could be taxed out of our homes. The commission already voted for higher water & sewer rates; ADD in the bond and property taxes could skyrocket!

6. Landlords are likely to pass along the NEW TAX by charging higher rents.

7. There is NO CAP on per household repayment amount and the City estimates are based on UNSUBSTANTIATED ASSUMPTIONS.

8. The City will add the cost of repaying this bond to the Non-Ad Valorem section of your tax bill. The average Lake Worth homeowner currently pays $495 a year in these extra taxes.  If this bond passes, that amount could double.

9. Our small business community will be hard hit by this tax as they do not get the benefits of homesteading.  Some businesses could see their tax bill increase as much as $5000 a year to pay for this bond and many will close up and leave as our neighboring cities offer lower utility rates and taxes..

Citizens Against Unfair Taxation is a group of Lake Worth residents and business owners who work to provide fair and accurate information about issues that affect the taxes you pay.

Risk vs Reward

Why are we so concerned about the city's plan to borrow $63.5 million?  We're worried about escalating taxes, to be sure.  But we're also worried about the details -- or lack of details -- in the city's plan.  We understand that infrastructure needs to be addressed.  But we believe that there is a way to do so with much less risk to homeowners.  After all, isn't that what a sound financial plan is about -- maximizing reward while minimizing risk?  So let's take a look at the risks of the current plan:

Your Home is On the Line - A General Obligation Bond such as the one you are being asked to vote for on August 26 legally requires the city to raise taxes to whatever level is needed for repayment.  There is no cap and no exception.  If for any reason you cannot make the payment, you can lose your home.

Fuzzy Math - It costs an average of $200,000 to mil (drain) and resurface (pave) 1 mile of a one-lane road according to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.  The city is asking you to vote for a $63.5 MILLION bond.  That's enough to pave 317 miles of roads!

Fantasy Estimates - The city's repayment estimates are based on a hypothetical increase in property values of 4% per year for each of the next 30+ years.  This has never happened historically.

Visit www.cautpac.org and register to get a sign in your lawn.

Share this information with your friends. Let them know that a city like Lake Worth should not have taxes more expensive than Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach.
My suggestion: Lets turn the Municipal Golf Course into a city place of Lake Worth, with store, buildings and the money will flow...into the city.

GAZA conflict and a Viable Solution - JULY 28 – 2014

GAZA conflict and a Viable Solution  - JULY 28 – 2014 -

A long time ago, in 1948, it was confirmed the Israel-Egypt Agreement.  Article V of the agreement declared that the demarcation line was not to be an international border. At first the Gaza Strip was officially administered by the All-Palestine Government, established by the Arab League in September of 1948. All Palestinians in Gaza Strip was managed under the military authority of Egypt, functioning as a puppet state, until it officially merged into the United Arab Republic and dissolved in 1959. From that time of the dissolution of the All Palestine Government until 1967, the Gaza Strip was directly administered by an Egyptian Military Governor.

Israel captured the Gaza in the Six-day-war.

From 1967 to 1994 Israel took control of everything, but pursuant to the Oslo Accords Signed in 1993, the Palestinian Authority become the administrative body that Governed Palestinian Population centers, and in 1994 Israel granted the right of self-governance to Gaza through the Palestinian Authority.

Prior to this, Gaza had been subjected to military occupation, most recently by Israel (1967-94), and Egypt (1948-67), and earlier by Great Britain (1918-48), and Turkey when Gaza had been part of the Ottoman Empire.

However, Israel kept control of most of sanitation, all borders, mail, main roads, airports, sea ports, electricity and water supply. Today this entire system is under control of Israel.

This alone brings uncertainty to what type of service had been offered to the Palestinians and Israelis living in Gaza.

Since 2007 the Gaza Strip has been De Facto governed by Hamas, a Palestinian Group claiming to be the representatives of the Palestinian National Authority and the Palestinian People.

Gaza forms a part of the Palestinian territory defined in the Oslo Agreement and UNSC resolution of 1860.

Gaza Strip is located at the Southwest corner of Israel, bordering Egypt on the South. It is bound by the Mediterranean Sea to the West. The strip has 28 miles long and 4 miles wide. It has, however 1.2 million Palestinians.

Most Palestinians in the Gaza Strip fled or were purged in 1948 from homes inside modern-days Israel, or are the descendants of these refugees.

There are approximately 6000 Israeli settlers also living in Gaza, and they claim at least 25% of the available land.

Most of the areas claimed by the state of Palestine have been occupied by Israel since 1967 in the aftermath of the six-day war.

In 2014 Hamas and Fatah formed a Palestinian Unity Government within the state of Palestine. Rami Hamdallah became the coalition’s Prime Minister and has planned for elections in Gaza and the West Bank.

In July 2014 a set of lethal incidents between Hamas and Israel led to the Israeli Military launching Operation Protective Edge.

An Escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict began in June 2014 following a series of events including the collapse of American-sponsored peace talks. Also, the kid-nap and murder of three Israeli teenagers and an increased rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas militants.

On July 16, 2014 Hamas and Islamic Jihad offered Israel a 10- year truce with 10 conditions.

As of July 26, 2014 over 200 thousand Palestinians dispersed.

At least 165 thousand Palestinians taking shelter in UNRWA schools.

1.2 Million have no access to water and sanitation. 3000 Housing units have been destroyed. Palestinians are allowed 4 hours of electricity per day.

A Viable Solution:

Israel must leave with its military force from the West Bank area, and return home.  Accept the fact that Gaza forms a part of the Palestinian territory defined in the Oslo Agreement and UNSC resolution of 1860, and sell the entire utility department along with water supply, electricity, gas, roads and anything that pertain to that area. Israel must recognize that the “Gaza majority” want to be part of Palestine, with complete Jurisdiction being given to the Palestinians.  Gaza needs to be controlled by the Palestinians with International rules of tolerance. The entire police department, security, homeland security, borders, roads, must be controlled by each individual state, and in this case Palestine.

It doesn’t make sense to occupy a territory when it doesn’t bring any profit. It is not necessary to fight over vendetta of parents of parents, when we are passed the Second World War, and we need to move on.  We cannot start a war over something we once had, we gave it away but we want to control its expenses. It seems like a divorce to me; one of those very hairy ones, where one partner never let-go off the other completely. Let’s live life.

“Go Israel, go and help the people of Gaza to get back on their feet. The people are not the rebellions. They are mere people, like you and me. Sell to them roads, schools, bridges and make them a nation, as you are. Help them with education and teach them abstention of making babies”.

Israel must accept a truce and feel secure for opening hand of something that everyone took a piece off since the beginning of times. It is time to let them be.  It is time to start peace, with the gift of letting it go.

I know, it doesn’t make sense, to stop such a long war,… but we are talking about 1.2 million people without electricity, water or any infra-structure to support life. No food, nothing to look forward to. I am talking about a strip of land with so much to give and to do. Lets forget a long time ago, and start anew.

Milton

UPDATE ----Today - August 7, 2014 - Israel has removed at least 70% of its TROOPS ... artillery from GAZA. Israel is removing troops from the West Bank - Something that never happened before. Sooner than we think they will start reconstruction.

UPDATE ---- Today - August 15th 2014. More conflicts are emerging. People from Iraq are leaving their lands. It is a mess. The US government can not help it alone. We need more troops from all over the world to unite and stop this conflict by force. It is about time to stop it.

BellaLabs - 877-767-9942 stay away from this company - SCAM

This company has adds all over facebook offering a trial for $4.95. What they forget to mention is that you are bind into a fraudulent contract, and you will be charged another $87.00 every month for the rest of your life, whether you like it or not. This is a scam and you must change your debit card number immediately to stop their charges. No other way out. They are rude. they do not give refund and their customer service is a joke. I want the banking Industry to ban their activities for life. See the contract bellow before you even attempt to get involved with them. This contract is not acceptable. The contract will be displayed bellow, after a few complains from customers who are unhappy.

"Bellalabs - I ordered two free samples of skin cream from Le Cream and Bella Labs. It was a big deception, and they were not interested in consumer satisfaction".

When I called to cancel, I was told I had a few days left to SEND what I thought was a free sample, back or be charged 89$!!!for each bottle!when I told them what a scam this was they refered me to a LETTER(G) at the bottom of the add, click there and read fine print.
the fine print also said they were not saying this stuff was any good, that the ads were made up.I thought I was a savvy consumer, but this was very deceptive. Free with shipping should mean free with shipping.
I am sending both bottles back, considering this a lesson learned, but so glad to so this exposed.Kathy C

I ran into the same situation. When I told them I would return the items, they said I couldn't because of the terms and conditions I should have read. The packages have not been opened and we disputed the two items on our credit card that was used for the transaction. The credit card company suggested we cancel our card, which we did, so that they would not try to charge us for future items. I cancelled the so-called "memberships" which I did not agree to. They are scam artists with obnoxious customer service reps. The two free samples were far from free since we returned home from vacation with two charges of $87.63 on our credit card. Live and learn but this is not over yet. """

I had the exact experience with Bella Labs AND Beaute MD. What a scam! I can't believe I fell for this. It was promoted as "free" for the trials (just pay for the shipping), but if you read all the way through the terms, you will see that if you don't return these products and call to cancel, you will be charged over $160 (plus the shipping costs). And they will automatically start sending you bottles and charging you monthly for them. No where through the advertisements or in the packaging did I ever see that it was only a 14-day trial and that I had to take the initiative to return and cancel it within the 14 days. I feel so *** for not reading the fine print!

There seems to be a lot of complains about this company. There is enough complains here from the public to lodge a law suit in court?
This should not be allowed to go on. This company is openly cheating the public with false advertisement it seems. Why don't you all band together and do something about this since you all feel strongly that this is not right and it is false advertisement. It is important that we do not allow people or companies to take advantage of people, particularly on the internet.

LAST ONE - SENT TO ELLEN DEGENERES -

Are you aware of the complaints from many consumers in regards to the Bella Lab products that claim endorsment by you...this company appears to be scamming people and thought you should be aware...I was on their website and almost ordered their " free " trial but fortunately found this information from other consumers who had been mislead...Just a few examples below...
Just thought you should know this...You are an honest and caring individual and if you do not endorse this product then you should not have to bear the dishonesties of this company...God Bless...
This website: http://www.reviewopedia.com/bella-labs-reviews
1. Please DO NOT purchase Bella Labs and La Creme. They are from one San Diego company, but they two company names. The products never work. Their Ad for 14 days free trial is a big SCAM. After they got your credit card number, they billed you $87 after 14 days.
They are dishonest and are all crooks. I discovered their fraud and canceled my membership. If you gave them your credit card number, please tell your bank to stop further transaction and get a new credit card. So they can't take your money from your bank account anymore. It is a shame.
2. I didn't order this product, I didn't want this product as anything that sounds too good to be true, IS!! I thought I was getting a "free" sample for $4.95.. What a farse!! I got a tub of the stuff "4 weeks" after paying my $4.95 for shipping and handling and at that point, it was beyond the free two week trial period.. I never got the product and so natuarally, my 2 weeks were up "before" the product even got shipped.. They are very sneaky and downright rude.. Do not buy this product, please!
You'd be better off throwing $88 every month, out the window, on the freeway.. Same goes for their subsidirary product, Le Creme. Even my credit card company told me they will continue to charge my card each month and the only way to stop them is to cancel my credit card!!
3. The product maybe good did not get a chance to try it. It arrived 5 days after I ordered it. My fault of having a P O Box address, did not pick the item until 9 days after it was ordered, not shipped, but ordered. Therefore, when their 14 days trial period was up I had the product for a whole total of 5 days. I called to cancel and was told the additional charges for the monthly fee of $87.63 had been cancelled that I would not be charged, just to return the remaining product, at my expense, to BELLALAB in San Diego, CA. Lo and behold, my checking account was billed for both products that were suppose to have a 14 day free trial. Now I have to wait for 3 to 5 business days for my $175.26 to be refunded to my account. I was a advised in the term and conditions that it states the trial time is from the order date not the shipping date nor the date the product is received. The way the ad is worded it sounds like this a free trial sample and after 14 days of use you can cancel if you do not want or like the product. Be careful of the finest print of this company. Oh yes, they record all calls, and I was recorded as making a call that lasted 14 minutes, per a rep who won't get me his name, and I supposedly said nothing just hung on the line. Weird that the rep who received said call did not say anything either. Not a happy camper.

BY AGREEING TO THIS ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, YOU ARE GIVING UP YOUR RIGHT TO GO TO COURT, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL. In arbitration, a dispute is resolved by a neutral arbitrator or panel of arbitrators, rather than by a judge or jury. Arbitration is more informal, however, an arbitrator can award the same relief that a court can award. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), and conducted under AAA’s Commercial Arbitration Rules and the Supplementary Procedures for Consumer Related Disputes (collectively, the “AAA Rules”) then in effect at the time of the dispute. You may obtain copies of the AAA Rules and forms and instructions for initiating arbitration by visiting the AAA website at www.adr.org, or by calling AAA at (800) 788-7879. If for any reason the AAA is unavailable, the parties shall mutually select another arbitration forum.
There shall be no right or authority for any claim to be arbitrated on a class action basis or in a purported representative capacity. No claim submitted to arbitration is heard by a jury or may be brought as a private attorney general. You do not have the right to act as a class representative or participate as a member of a class of claimants with respect to any claim submitted to arbitration. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims against BellaLabs and may not preside over any kind of representative or class proceeding against BellaLabs, its agents, officers, shareholders, members, employees, subsidiaries, affiliates, predecessors in interests, successors and/or assigns. You acknowledge that this class action waiver is material and essential to the arbitration of any disputes between the parties and is nonseverable from the agreement to arbitrate claims. If any portion of this class action waiver is limited, voided, or cannot be enforced, then the parties' agreement to arbitrate shall be null and void. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY AGREEING TO THIS ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, WHICH CONTAINS THIS CLASS ACTION WAIVER, YOU MAY ONLY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST BELLALABS, ITS AGENTS, OFFICERS, SHAREHOLDERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, PREDECESSORS IN INTEREST, SUCCESSORS AND/OR ASSIGNS IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS ACTION OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. Air Lines Business problems and a viable solution

Air Lines Business problems and a viable solution

Pointing system…. Is the solution to all headaches?

How many passengers per year in each country?

How much flight hours used?

How many Flights used?

The Airline Industry can improve its profits by leaving aside some technicalities, such as:

1-      The need to book a flight in advance “while” offering special prices

2-      The difficulty in changing planes or destination without  high penalty

3-      The impossibility of going from one airline to another with the same ticket

The Airline Industry can make money by following these steps:

1-      Creating a Central Travelling Bank for all transportation

2-      Using a pointing system  of $1.00 per point,  available to passengers all over the world

3-      Allow passengers to change their destination at the airport without penalties

4-      Allow passengers to use their points to any destination, with any airline, anytime, anywhere.

5-      Each 100 points would cover 1 hour flight to any destination one way.   Only using increments of 50 points. If the flight regular time is 7.6 hours it is counted as 8. It the flight is 45 minutes, it counts as one hour. A flight point table will be used by the Central Travelling bank with the information for all available flights by every Airline in each particular airport.

6-      For Round Trip and International Flights, 100 points covers 1.5 hours.

7-      Points are accepted by all airlines, or transferred from one to another.

Procedure:

A passenger would purchase in advance a travelling card and make a deposit of $1000 dollars into the Central Travelling Bank.  This will allow 1000 points and a passenger can travel for 10 hours if going one way, and 15 hours if purchasing a round trip. The computer will keep track if the trip is a round trip or one way.

At any connecting airport, due to climatic conditions, or a change of mind, a passenger can change his plane to any different destination, by receiving credit for his not-travelled destination, and using it towards his future destination within any airline. In other words, a passenger can buy a ticket Delta Airlines from New York to San Francisco,(ONE WAY) with a connection in Atlanta. This trip when direct would cover 2600 miles, and it takes … 6 hours and its price is 600 points one way. But if it is scheduled in advance only 900 points round trip. In other words, if scheduled in advance, the amount of 600 points would be taken from the passenger’s travel card.  In Atlanta the passenger decided to change his departure time, or use a different airline. He had travelled 750 miles, or 2 hours, and its cost should be 200 points, which will be charged for 200 points payable to Delta. Now, by taking another airline, in a different time of his choice, the remaining of the trip is 2,140 miles, or 6.0 hours, which is equivalent to 600 points, and it will be debited from his card. By making this change of mind, the passenger will spend 800 points one way, but is pleased with his decision. Now he needs to spend at least 600 points to return, making this unplanned trip cost a total of 1400 points minimum.

The time to cancel has to be 30 minutes before departure. It can be done electronically, or while inside an airplane by using the internet.  A screen will announce departing flights, available seats, and the amount of points it will require half an hour before departure. So stand by passengers can be booked by presenting their card to the attendant in the last minute. It will work like a waiting list, but last minute passengers will be charged one way trip.

Advantages:

It will bring fair competition among airlines.

A passenger can decide to travel in the last minute, by driving to the nearest airport and observe his choice of destination without the burden of paying double fees for a trip and wait there for the nest available destination. A passenger can go from Atlanta to NY, and take a direct plane to San Francisco and arrive there hours before his appointment. If he waits in Atlanta for an available plane to San Francisco, he could miss his appointment.

It will bring options to passengers, and costs will be accordingly. This alone will increase traffic because people like to make last minute decisions.

A passenger with access to the internet can book his own paperless trip and present himself at the counter to obtain his travelling pass.

Frequent travelers who reach Airline Mileage demand per year will be credited points towards his card accordingly.

First Class passengers will embark after all passengers have been situated, so the entire corridor can be disinfected and doors closed for the flight. It doesn’t make any sense first class passengers been watched by everyone inside the airplane, or people passing through their aisle.  New airplanes have to have a separate entrance for economy passengers, and it shall be done in most airports.

Profits

*CARGO!! Cargo is the HUGE money maker in the airline industry. When my airline first started they would take off on a transatlantic flight with literally 8 people on board!! Why? The cargo hold was full making it more worth to take  8 people and cargo!

Various airlines buy their airplanes when they are new, to use them for several months...and then lease them out to other airlines....gaining a deal of interest from them...

According to the WSJ, the amount of net income made on one flight is approximately $164.  This assumes that the flight has 100 passengers.  This is as close to being perfectly competitive as you can get.  This site, lists "Many" airlines.

Bellow a few comments taken from people referring to airlines profits and losses…

“If you look at the overall "profit and loss" statement for the US airline industry, you'd find that since the beginnings of airline aviation when Delta stopped dusting crops and started carrying passengers, the airlines as a whole have never made money. There are some exceptions, Southwest, Jet Blue, but for the most part the airlines were supported by government subsidies during the first fifty years or so. Since deregulation in 1978 though, many of those dinosaurs are dying off and the lean and mean will create an entirely new industry”.

Most airlines do not buy the aircraft outright, they lease them. Those payments are less than what the mortgage payments would be.

Tickets are sold on a scale. Ever try buying a ticket close to the date you want to travel? It's called a "walk-up" fare, and it's very expensive. With a pointing system, this will not exist.

Other routes. While an airline my post dramatic losses on some routes, others are very lucrative and post very nice profits offsetting any losses from the losing routes.

Goverment transportation. Did you think the military transported all those guys to Iraq? They get premium prices to charter an aircraft for Uncle Sam.

Load factors. It will be higher with a pointing system, for it will be like selling cars on volume. You get a better deal, and they still make money because every seat in the airplane is filled.

How many people are using Airlines today?

For the last few years the United States had a yearly average of 730 million passengers using Air Line services. Brazil averages 95 million passengers per year. China averages 350 million per year. France averages 65 million. Germany and Japan average the same 100 million passengers per year.  The United Kingdom averages 120 million passengers per year. A list of Air Transport passengers carried you can find at the web site of the World Bank Data. Link: http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IS.AIR.PSGR

It is fair to say that the number of passengers doesn’t equal the number of travelers, for; one passenger could have made more than five travels during a current year.

I am from Brazil and a trip USA to Brazil covers 5000 miles and takes 8 hours. It should cost either 600 points one way, or 900 points round trip. Today it cost $800 round trip and $650 one way. No difference in there.

I have to mention that in time of high demand or low demand POINTS CHARGED WILL BE THE SAME as any other time.  Plane schedule will not be decreased, but each company has the right to freight a plane to any “open destination” in accordance with the demand. For This reason a plane may stay in an airport waiting to be freighted by the airline, to any destination.

People can be at home waiting for plane schedule wherever they are.

For example: If you are in Columbus Mississippi and want to go to New York, but scheduled planes are only 2 per day. In this case you have to book in advance and be at the airport 1.5 hours before departure.   But by checking at the Central Travelling Bank web site, you learned that another airline is offering an earlier flight, and it just occurred that particular day. It was not a scheduled plane. For this reason, non-scheduled planes that arrive at any airport must stand by until a freight is completed, with cargo and people to any destination. You have a choice to change planes and take the next flight. These flights are scheduled with 3 hours in advance every time. The list is available every minute changing planes or destinations and adding planes and destination, and passengers can make their change at the last minute (half an hour at the counter for those who passed security) and 2 hours using the web site.

In summary, it just occurred to me that this system of aviation is not a simple matter for both, airline and passengers. A viable solution is the use of pointing systems using standardized prices all over the world, and a friendly way to change routes for passengers as demand requires.

At the airport an officer would announce:

“We have a flight with destination to San Francisco, Non Stop and we have 20 available sits”.

A large screen will show all flights available to everywhere leaving in the next hour giving time to last minute change.

The industry will make money because people will travel more often.
